Security Officer

Provides security services for customers and staff, in and outside of the building, including vacating, closing and securing the building. Responsible for monitoring library activity and maintaining an appropriate environment. Patrols interior and exterior grounds and parking lot to maintain security of building and property. This position involves dealing effectively with individuals, groups and outside agencies, sometimes in difficult situations.
Requirements & Skills:
Previous security experience and PERC certification preferred. PERC certification must be earned within 6 months of hire. Prior customer service experience preferred. To work most effectively with the public and staff across the library, the preferred candidate will have excellent communication skills and the demonstrated ability to excel in Our Culture.
Education:
High school degree or equivalency required.
Hours and Scheduling:
Part-time, 26 hours per week.
Weekday evenings 6:30-10:40 p.m.; Saturday noon-8:30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.- 8:30 p.m. Additional shifts may be available for weekday evenings.
Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary $15.50 - $18.24/hour, depending on qualifications.
