Social media is something that takes time to develop. It requires a different mindset when using it as a marketing tool beyond sharing pictures of the grandkids and special events. Our Business Services Staff provides one-on-one appointments for those entrepreneurs who are just beginning to navigate the whirlwind of social media marketing. We work with businesses who are just starting as well as established businesses who need direction on the kinds of content their business might share. We simplify the journey by helping you identify which platform is the best place to start and how to use it for YOUR business. We often continue to meet with our local business owners as they grow and branch out into new social media platforms, teaching them how to use each platform individually as well as how to tie them together for a seamless marketing system. Have you met with us yet? 
We also practice what we teach! Are you following AHML on social media? Business Services has it's own board on Pinterest inside the AHML platform. The library also uses Facebook and Twitter to promote the various programs and services available including our business services. You'll find snapshots from around the library on Instagram and videos (including our Business Video-Bytes series!) on the YouTube channel!  Our monthly Business Newsletter is a critical piece that provides insights and timely tips just for our local entrepreneurs! Two videos in one month! This one is time sensitive - we wanted to be sure to get the word out about our new structure for the Co-working Connection beginning next week on September 2nd. Your smartphone is capable of taking great pictures if you know just a few easy tips! As a business owner using social media for your marketing efforts, you might be aware that photos get more engagement than a standard text update. Photos can be used to share behind the scenes shots, event promotion, product promotions, and more. Join us on August 4th at 1pm for some practical tips that will improve your smartphone photography immediately. We'll start with instruction in the Training Center then move outside for a brief photo walk to put what you're learning into practice. Lastly we'll come back to the Training Center where you'll see me edit in real time as you follow along on your own smartphone. Walk out of this class knowing how to take great shots with your smartphone and use free editing apps to create photos that sell!!

We are delighted to share with you a new monthly series of testimonials from local business owners. We asked them just two questions and they happily shared ways the library's resources have had a direct impact on their business! Please enjoy our first testimonial from Jenny, and let us know if you want to share your own experiences as a library customer and small business owner!
1.)          What business services have you used here at the library?
I have used the one-on-one appointments available at AHML to develop an online presence for my interior decorating business, Finishing Touch Decor by Jenny. Julie was professional and personable and helped me devise the best action plan for me.
We developed an action plan that included setting up my website, Facebook page, Pinterest and Instagram accounts. Julie took the time to show me how to set them up as well as put them to practical use on my own.
2.)          What impact did using the library’s business services have on your business?
The services offered at AHML had a huge positive impact on my business. I now have a solid online presence where clients and potential clients can see my work. The website lets people see my work and learn a little about me. Facebook is a way to reach out and show the latest trends or tips on affordable decorating ideas. Pinterest has become a great resource for me to get ideas for projects and to collaborate with my clients. 
Instagram in particular has been a huge springboard for me to connect with other decorators and designers from all over the country! I am now friends with designers whose work has been featured in popular magazines. I follow people who encourage, inspire and support my passion for decorating.
Because of using the business services offered at the library, my decorating business reaches thousands of people that I could have never reached on my own!

If your status is Confirmed Registration, your spot for the event is confirmed.

If registration for this event is full, you will be placed on a waiting list. Wait listed registrants are moved to the confirmed registration list (in the order of registration) when cancelations are received. 6.012 Patron-Generated Content

The Library offers various venues in which patrons can contribute content that is accessible to the public.  These include, but are not limited to, blogs, reviews, forums, and social tagging on the Library’s website and catalog.  Any instance in which a patron posts written or recorded content to any of the Library’s venues that are accessible to the public is considered “patron-generated content” and is subject to this policy.
By contributing patron-generated content, patrons grant the Library an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works based upon that content.
By submitting patron-generated content, patrons warrant they are the sole authors or that they have obtained all necessary permission associated with copyrights and trademarks to submit such content.
Patrons are liable for the opinions expressed and the accuracy of the information contained in the content they submit.  The Library assumes no responsibility for such content.
The Library reserves the right not to post submitted content or to remove patron-generated content for any reason, including but not limited to:
  • content that is profane, obscene, or pornographic;
  • content that is abusive, discriminatory or hateful on account of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation;
  • content that contains threats, personal attacks, or harassment;
  • content that contains solicitations or advertisements;
  • content that is invasive of another person’s privacy;
  • content that is unrelated to the discussion or venue in which it is posted;
  • content that is in violation of the Library’s Code of Conduct or any other Library policy
